NIT Karnataka student grabs an offer of Rs. 60 lakh from Facebook

NIT-K (National Institute of Technology, Karnataka), formerly known as Karnataka Regional Engineering College (KREC) has set a new benchmark in its campus placement process. Social networking site Facebook visited NIT-K for campus recruitments this year and has made an annual offer of Rs. 60 lakh to one of its students.

Microsoft has also extended lucrative offers of Rs. 57 lakh and Rs. 50 lakh per annum to two other students of the institute. All three students belong to 7thsemester of Computer science and Information Technology batch and will be completing their course in April-May 2012. They are expected to get on board in May-June 2012.
Sources from NIT-K revealed that 3 more students were made an offer of Rs. 50 lakh and more than 10 students were successful in grabbing offers of over Rs.20 lakh per annum from Google+, Facebook, Texas Instruments, Tata Consultancy, National and Bajaj Auto. Till now, only 300 students have been placed and placement process for the remaining students will be done in the subsequent months.
The institute officials also revealed that the average offer made to the students of NITK in the academic year of 2010 was Rs. 5.3 lakh, which has now gone up to Rs. 10 lakh this year despite of the economic slowdown.
The institute offers 9 undergraduate courses and 20 post graduate courses and has been successful in maintaining its academic standards. As a leading institute it has also been successful in attracting major IT companies from across the globe for campus recruitments.
